Should You Get Certified?
When small businesses make the leap into government contracting, one of the questions they often hear is, "Are you certified?" For businesses just getting started, understanding all of the different certifications and how they apply to different agencies and projects can be a daunting. Knowing which certifications can help your business and which ones you are eligible for can take hours of research and often results time wasted completing the wrong applications.
To help small businesses shortcut this process, HCC Contractor Academy has partnered with Focus Points Family Resource Center to offer a workshop that will provide a roadmap for certification. You'll learn what it means to be certified and determine what you need to do to prepare. You'll also hear from a panel of successful small businesses who have leveraged certifications to grow their business.
This program is being offered as part of the workforce development efforts of the CDOT Central 70 project and is intended to help local area small business owners gain access to transportation and construction-related contracting opportunities. If you're interested in being a part of the groundbreaking Central 70 project or other projects with the City and County of Denver and RTD that have small business goals, come find out if and how certification can help you on that path.
